When I conceived the idea for this event at last years Big Green Gathering, I just thought it would be great to get people together again and catch up with old mates. Another impetus was to inform the next generation as to what their parents got up to, and went through the roots of the culture we are handing on to them. It was great to see people there who were not even born when the events we watched took place, and to get positive feedback from them afterwards. I was not sure initially what form it was going to take, but Andy Worthington had offered to give a talk on the social and political consequences of the Beanfield. As it was networked over the following months we were offered rare or newly released films on DVD, so it turned into a mini-film festival, the event itself also being videod by Brian of Viziondanz shame you missed the evening party though, Brian. Exhibition material was provided by Bruce Garrard, who had an extensive archive of Stonehenge stuff dating from 85 and beyond; Ben Grigg with his Molesworth scrapbook; and my own family photos from the mid-80s. Also Tim Malyon who arrived with some of his seminal black-and-white images from the period, along with his new baby. Tim Hall, Bard of Glastonbury, opened the evenings proceedings, followed by Jo and Jake of Rising Mojo who had written new songs especially for the occasion. Oshia sang her beautiful rendition of the Raggle Taggle Gypsies, Dr Amaqueen had us up on the floor dancing, and Danny Longlegs took us to midnight with his hi-energy trance set. My favourite part of the day had to be watching Martin Parrys film Outsiders, including footage taken in 86 of Rainbow Village at Queen Bee site, Watchet, and the run in convoy to Butleigh woods while sitting with several people who were on that film. Craig walked in from Wales just after hed been on the big screen. This event was put together entirely on a donations basis, in the spirit of the free festival movement. Thanks to all who gave, we covered basic costs and no-one was paid for their involvement. Jo Waterworth (Rainbow Jo) July 2006
